Sifu Michael R. Pekor

Senior Student: March 1, 2005
Certified: August 23, 1997

Sifu Michael R. Pekor MS, C.Ht. has been studying martial arts since 1982. He holds instructor's certification in Cheng Man-Ch'ing Tai Chi Chuan under the Patience T'ai Chi Association, instructor's certification in Shotokan Karate under the Long Island University Division of Sports Science and a second degree black belt under the American-Japanese Karate Association. Sifu Pekor is also an advanced practitioner of Wing Chun Kung Fu under Sifu John Crescione.

Sifu Pekor has been a national Tai Chi form and push hands gold medalist for many years. Sifu Pekor was named Tai Chi Push Hands Grand Champion and Cheng Man-Ch'ing Advanced Form Gold Medalist at the 2003, 2004 and 2005 tournaments, judged in 2006 and returned as a competitor to win gold in moving Push Hands again in 2007 at the United States Chinese Kuoshu Federation International Tournament held in July in MD. These accomplishments make studying at Tai Chi of Long Island (formerly Caring Hands Tai Chi) which opened its doors on September 15th, 2003, an excellent place to train, especially for Tai Chi as a Martial Art.

In addition to practicing, teaching and competing in Tai Chi Chuan, Sifu Pekor also runs a private Hypnotherapy practice called Long Island Hypnotherapy and teaches Health and Physical Education in the Jericho School District in Jericho, NY. All of these professional undertakings contribute to Sifu Pekor's ability to put forth Tai Chi in a clear, concise way, making sure that each student's needs are met at every class.
